What does AYAMI even stand for?
Share
I am me.
That is what AYAMI stands for.
At its core, AYAMI is about freedom.
The freedom to feel comfortable in your own body.
The freedom to participate in life without constantly thinking about your clothes.
And the freedom to express yourself through what you wear.
Because for many people, that freedom is not a given.
Finding clothing that feels comfortable, functional, and aesthetically right at the same time can be incredibly difficult — especially for people with sensory sensitivities, disabilities, chronic pain, mobility limitations, neurodivergence, or other specific needs.
Sometimes clothing looks good but feels unbearable.
Sometimes it feels comfortable but does not feel like you.
Sometimes getting dressed becomes so exhausting and limiting that self-expression starts to disappear altogether.
People end up wearing the same few “safe” clothes again and again — not because they want to, but because those are the only options that truly work for them.
Over time, that can make feeling like yourself surprisingly difficult.
AYAMI exists because we do not think people should have to choose between:
- comfort and identity
- functionality and aesthetics
- accessibility and self-expression
Clothing should adapt to people — not the other way around.
It should help people do what they want to do.
Go out with friends.
Work.
Rest.
Dance.
Focus.
Move comfortably through the world.
And at the same time, it should still feel personal. Expressive. Beautiful. Like you.
Because clothing is not just about covering the body.
It affects how people experience themselves.
And everyone deserves the freedom to feel like themselves.
I am me.
